Godparents
.jpg)
The person receiving the sacrament of confirmation must have a godparent. A well-chosen godparent can help the confirmed grow in faith and provide support throughout their preparation, as well as in the years to come.
The godparent must be at least 16 years old, must have received the sacraments of Baptism, the Holy Eucharist, and Confirmation, must be actively participating in the Catholic faith and, if married, must be so in the Catholic Church. Parents or stepparents cannot serve as godparents.
