Introduction

Our Background

Our parish family is alive with the Holy Spirit of our Risen Lord and you will find that at St. John Bosco you can find a place where you can trust to guide you to Jesus. Our Christian formation program prepares a person for full initiation into the Catholic Church and an abundant and active life in the parish. It includes the preparation of adults for full initiation into the Catholic Church (OCIA), the preparation of families for the baptism of their children, and the preparation of those who have been baptized to receive their First Communion and Confirmation.

These pages describe the program for young people seeking to receive the sacraments of initiation: Baptism, First Communion, and/or Confirmation.

At St. John Bosco, we have the honor of working with you to provide training and education that affirms your dignity as children of God and prepares you to develop and use all the gifts that God has given you to love Him with all your heart, all your mind, and all your soul, and to love your neighbor as yourself.

To be considered ready to receive First Communion and/or Confirmation, a child must:

• Desire to receive the Sacrament

• Be a baptized member of the Catholic Church

• Attend Sunday mass regularly (Our parish requires that parish records reflect that the family attends Sunday mass at the Catholic Parish of John Bosco for at least 30 Sundays in the year prior to receiving the Sacrament)

• Have an appropriate understanding for their age of the love of Jesus, His forgiveness, and His presence in the Eucharist.Pass the midterm and final exams.

Before registering for the Christian formation program, it is necessary to be a registered member of the St. John Bosco parish. Parish registration forms can be found in the parish office.

You can enroll your child for preparation at the Christian formation office during regular office hours.

Our office is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (we close for lunch from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm).
